THE GENESIS OF THE CPDF

The Deep Exploration Research Vessel Capsaa was long gone, or rather it had been repaired, renamed, and repurposed, and now redesignated as a Space Administration Station, the SAS Capsaa administered the 60,000 plots on the surface. It ensured the power stations functioned, the water kept flowing, and plot border disputes were amicably settled, it was far different from its previous life.
It no longer explored anything, its research functions had been replaced, and now it remained moored around the planet named after it, CAPSAA.
The planet was a revelation, a proper gilded bonus for anyone lucky enough to have purchased a mining plot at the planets genesis, for there was so much here that you could literally scoop the riches right off the surface, and that is where the trouble started.
There were always those that wanted something for nothing, willing to steal another’s bounty, with force if necessary. It started with Pirates in the shipping lanes and then progressed to Raiders on the surface. The DERV Capsaa knew all about losses to the Pirates, and it knew the current situation was about to be changed. When the inevitable happened, as they had predicted, and the planet became the target, they were powerless to help. There were thousands of storage facilities with processed product just waiting to be stolen, and the best part for the Raiders, no defensive capabilities. Something needed to be done to protect the products mined, but no one seemed bothered until it directly affected them. The worrying part was that the mining contracts specified that the individual mining operations were responsible for their own security and protection, the trouble was, that most of the companies on the surface were not being offered any protection from their owners who were safe in their office’s light years away.
They all had to change that.
A solution to the raids needed to be found before they intensified, except, no one would agree on how it was to be done. It took a lot of effort, there was initially some diplomacy, and then the SAS Capsaa resorted to strong arm tactics, and the hands of the PRH were forced into a solution. At first, they did not like it, but they came to understand the logic of it all, and the security it could offer them to them all.
This is the story of how the Capsaa Proletariat Defence Force came to be and its early battles with not just the formation, but with the Raiders too.
